Les #Elks réalisent une performance impressionnante au sol pour leur victoire contre les #Riders !
Les Edmonton Elks ont réussi à vaincre les Saskatchewan Roughriders avec un score final de 36-27 au Mosaic Stadium vendredi soir.
La défense des #Riders s’est retrouvée en difficulté face au quart-arrière des Elks, Tre Ford, alors que le match était à égalité et qu’il restait 5 minutes et 43 secondes à jouer. Ford s’est élancé sur dix yards pour marquer le touché de la victoire, donnant ainsi à son équipe un avantage de 34-27. Moins de trois minutes plus tard, la défense d’Edmonton a forcé un safety, portant l’écart à 9 points.
Les Elks ont réalisé une performance impressionnante au sol avec 263 yards gagnés, principalement grâce à Kevin Brown qui a accumulé 175 yards.
Les #Riders ont pris les devants avec un score de 10-0 dès le premier quart-temps grâce à un placement de Brett Lauther et un touchdown de Bane Jr.
Les Elks ont utilisé une tactique astucieuse pour marquer leur premier touchdown de la soirée. Au deuxième quart-temps, alors que l’équipe était en situation de faible distance près de la ligne d’en-but, le remplaçant Taylor Cornelius est entré sur le terrain et a réussi une passe lobée à A.C. Leonard pour un touchdown, ramenant ainsi les Elks à trois points des Riders.
Le premier lancer d’Antonio Pipkin en tant que quart-arrière des #Riders était également une feinte. La défense des Elks s’attendait à une course lorsque le quart remplaçant de 28 ans est entré en jeu avec une situation de troisième essai et un yard à parcourir. Au lieu de cela, Pipkin s’est reculé et a réussi une passe à Jamal Morrow, qui a avancé jusqu’à la ligne des 12 yards. Deux jeux plus tard, Jake Dolegala a trouvé Shawn Bane Jr. pour son deuxième touchdown de la soirée, donnant l’avantage aux Saskatchewanais.
Les Elks sont revenus à égalité à 27 avec 12 minutes et 51 secondes à jouer lorsque Ford a réussi une passe à Eugene Lewis. Ford a réussi à échapper à deux défenseurs avant de trouver Lewis seul à la ligne d’en-but pour un touchdown facile.
Jake Dolegala a réussi 17 passes sur 27 tentatives pour 159 yards, trois touchdowns et une interception.
Tre Ford a complété 13 de ses 20 passes pour 173 yards, un touchdown et une interception, tout en ajoutant 70 yards et un touchdown au sol.
Les Saskatchewan Roughriders affronteront les RedBlacks à Ottawa le vendredi 22 septembre à 17h.

The Edmonton Elks defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 36-27 at Mosaic Stadium on Friday night.
The Saskatchewan defensive sea parted for Edmonton quarterback Tre Ford with the game tied and 5:43 remaining to score the game winning touchdown on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium. The second-year pivot dashed ten-yards unabated into the end zone to give his team a 34-27 lead. Less than three minutes later, the Edmonton defence forced a safety to widen the margin to 9.
The Edmonton Elks gained a staggering 263 yards on the night, led by Kevin Brown’s 175.
The Riders had a 10-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to a Brett Lauther field goal and a three-play, 16-yard drive that culminated in Bane Jr.’s first touchdown reception of the evening.
The Elks deployed some trickery to earn their first touchdown on the night. In the second quarter, with the team facing a short yardage situation near the goal-line, back-up Taylor Cornelius entered the game and completed a lob pass to A.C. Leonard for a touchdown to bring the Elks to within three.
Antonio Pipkin’s first pass as a Saskatchewan quarterback was a trick play, too. The Elks defence was expecting a run play when the 28-year old back-up pivot entered the game on a third and one yard to gain. Instead, Pipkin dropped back and completed a pass to Jamal Morrow, in stride, who took the ball down to the 12 yard line. Two plays later, Jake Dolegala connected with Shawn Bane Junior on his second touchdown of the night to give Saskatchewan the lead.
The Elks pulled even at 27 with 12:51 remaining in the game when Ford connected with Eugene Lewis. Ford eluded a pair of defenders before finding Lewis all alone at the goal line for an easy score.
